Pirate knittin'

For protectin' yer grog whilst sailin' the seven seas.

Wine & Rum cozies after felting

Wine cozy prior to felting ~ done in fair-isle

Rum cozy prior to felting ~ done in duplicate stitch

I'm not happy with the way either one came out. Felting distorted the skulls more than I had anticipated, and I almost like the pre-felted versions better. I'm not sure whether or not I'll tweak the patterns to improve the look... I'm not really motivated to do it right now.

I'm in the process of organizing a Knitting Meetup at my yacht club. I've mentioned it to several ladies and everyone seems excited about the idea. I need to call the club to reserve space and order coffee & tea for the event. Should be loads of fun!

PS. I made the rope rug I used as a backdrop in these pics. Several years ago I had Dave purchase 100+ feet of line and I sat down below on our boat and wove and wove till I had this little rug. I brought it home to wash it and it turned out pretty good considering all the years of ground-in dirt it contained. It's 25 x 16 1/2 inches wide.
