Woodrose Hat

I was playing around with slipped stitches one day and this swatch...

became this hat!

I named it the 'Woodrose' after the color of yarn I used. The slipped stitches swirl around the hat all the way to the very top.

The pattern is below if you'd like to make one. (And so I can find it when I want to make another!)

Woodrose

Materials:
Worsted weight yarn (I used Patons Classic Wool in color 77425 Woodrose Heather)
US 7 dpns (and short circular, if desired)
Stitch marker, Cable needle, Darning needle

Notes:
CBS (cable back slip): Slip 1 stitch to cable needle and hold to back, slip the next stitch purlwise, knit 1 from cable needle

CBSD (cable back slip decrease): Slip 1 stitch to cable needle and hold to back, slip the next stitch purlwise, move stitch from the cable needle back to the left-hand needle and knit two stitches together

Pattern:
Cast on 96 sts and join in the round. Place marker
Work K2, P2 ribbing for 2 inches

1. * CBS, K6* repeat around
2. Knit to one stitch before the row marker. Move marker to this position (shifting it one stitch to the right). This ends the row.

Repeat these two rows until hat measures 6 inches. [I have a small head and this height is perfect for me. If you have a normal-sized head, you may want to increase this to 6 ½ inches.]

Begin decreases.

1. *CBSD, K5* repeat around
2. Knit to one stitch before the row marker. Move marker to this position (shifting it one stitch to the right).
3. *CBSD, K4* repeat around
4. Knit to one stitch before the row marker. Move marker to this position (shifting it one stitch to the right).
5. *CBSD, K3* repeat around
6. Knit to one stitch before the row marker. Move marker to this position (shifting it one stitch to the right).
7. *CBSD, K2*, repeat around
8. Knit to one stitch before the row marker. Move marker to this position (shifting it one stitch to the right).
9. *CBSD, K1*, repeat around (24 sts remain)
10. Knit to one stitch before the row marker. Move marker to this position (shifting it one stitch to the right).
11. K2tog around.

Break yarn and thread it through the remaining 12 sts, pulling tight to close the top of the hat. Weave in ends. Wash & block if desired.

FYI: You may use this pattern to knit hats for yourself, charity, or to sell, but please don't sell the pattern!
