Starfish rassling

I've heard people say that knitting with dpns is like wrestling with an octopus. Personally, I love dpns. But last night I tried intarsia in-the-round and I think it beats dpns by a mile.

I found the Intarsia I-Cord Hat pattern in the 2007 Knitting Pattern A Day Calendar and thought I'd give it a try. What makes it special is the little i-cord stripes that you work up the sides. See? What's not to love?


What's not to love is this:
Oh, the tangly mess! 5 color intarsia-in-the-round = wrestling a starfish. Just imagine what it will be like when I get to the top and have to switch to my beloved dpns! Like rassling a giant squid? Crikey!
