Bob is chunky

I tried spinning for a little while today and I think I'm getting the hang of it. I'll go along well for several inches then encounter a lump in the fleece which forms a thick spot in my yarn. Is fleece supposed to look like this? The stuff I got with a drop spindle I ordered is silky smooth compared to this. No wonder I'm having so much trouble!
