Robin's egg blue

Look at what I found in the mulch outside my window.

Isn't it gorgeous? Perfectly shaped and such a bright pretty color! I wonder why it was there? It's not like it fell out of a tree or anything. I searched the shrubbery to make sure there wasn't a nest nearby. And I know it's fresh because it was right outside my window, the one that I look out of all the time to watch the birds and say howdy to my friend the tail-less chipmunk.

I have a small collection of abandoned but perfect eggs that I've found in the past, and I keep them in the curio cabinet. There's robin's egg and a teensy speckled egg that I keep in a small bird's nest that fell out of one of the trees in the fall.
I found the turkey feather on our land in Michigan.

And this is a mallard egg that a duck laid on our boat one summer. I didn't find it until the following spring and the insides were dried out and it was as light as a feather.
But this egg I found today is by far the prettiest because of its intense color. It makes me want to paint my bedroom that same springtime shade of blue.
