Heartbroken

Does this look like a guilty face to you?

She hides it well. But even though she lays there innocently looking up at me, this is what I found in the library...

My gorgeous raku pottery vase, destroyed.

I saw this vase several years ago (I'd guess maybe 8?) in an art gallery and fell in love with its velvety surface and intense colors. I wanted it badly and even went back a second time to admire it. When my hubby offered to buy it for me as a birthday gift, I jumped for joy! I loved this vase and put it on the window seat so that I could admire it every time I walked up or down the stairs. Today it is no more.

I was told the glaze is made from copper and that moisture would destroy its brilliant hues. The gallery owner said that even when I cleaned the carpets I was to wrap it in plastic and move it to a dry room, which I did. She said that if it came in contact with too much humidity or moisture, such as a damp hand, the delicate glaze would turn black. Therefore it cannot be glued back together.

Not shown are the 30 or so small pieces or the glass-like shards that I had to suck up the vacuum. Also not shown is the vast amount of charcoal and burned wood chunks that fell out of the vase and onto my freshly-washed carpet. The carpet cleaner was here 4 days ago.

I could just puke.

Note: How even a 17 pound cat could knock this off the shelf is beyond me. It was huge and heavy. Why it happened: It's a very windy day and she was probably up in the window 'chasing' leaves.
