Let's try some new recipes!

I've been sorting through the boxes of miscellaneous stuff that I had stored in the room that is now my craft room, and came across a few old recipe books. I love old recipe books and have a small collection of ones with titles that I adore.
Mary Meade's Magic Recipes for the Electric Blender, Cooking With Love, Thoughts for Good Eating, Good Food And How To Cook It, Good Cheap Food, and Just Good Food have to be some of the best cookbook titles ever.

But in the box upstairs, I found this little gem. Published in 1937 it's still in great shape.
Take a look at a few of these delectable recipes. Eel in Aspic, Fish Pudding, and don't forget Fillet of Flounder With Beer Sauce. Mmm, mmm.

Or how about Beer Soup? Looks like there's a little splash on that one. I wonder if someone has tried it? (Not me.) And did you notice the recipe above that? Grape juice & sherry are two of the ingredients.

Oh, and for dessert... Sherry Gelatin.

Wait. Aren't those Jell-o Shots? What's with all the booze in these recipes? Could it have anything to do with the fact that prohibition ended just four short years before this book came out? I wonder.

If you are brave enough to try any of these recipes, let me know how they turn out. When you recover from your hangover.
