Michigan '08

Every year we drive north to spend time at our cottage in Michigan, but this year we did things a bit differently. We participated in a sailboat race to Cedar Point, spent the weekend at the park, sailed back to our home port, then drove to the cottage from there. Here is a recap.

Racing to Cedar Point

Nearing the park

We came in third - yay!

Marina wildlife

Nelson & Chelsea: Sailing back to home port

View from the cottage living room

Nels & Chels climbed the Sleeping Bear Dunes

A full shot of the dunes (they're just left of center)

View along the scenic dune drive

No food for you!

Lake Michigan

Dune over Lake Michigan

The dune climb down to Lake Michigan

Nope. Not doing it.

Are you people crazy?!?!?!!!

Chelsea did a lot of tubing. Nelson spotted while Dave drove the jet boat.

I sat on the dock and knitted

And finished two pairs of slippers

Proof that we've had a hammock at the cottage for a long, long time.

We canoed the Crystal River

It's very shallow in spots

But very peaceful

Hey, wait for us!

We spotted a group of baby racoons along the river

Can you find them?

They were hard to photograph because they kept moving

And because I was in a canoe floating down the river!

We picked the perfect day to canoe. It was a blast!

Oh ! Carol, thanks for those pictures of Cedar Pointe and Michigan. I am originally from Michigan (lived in A2 for 20+ years) and I miss it. Also, an earlier post you have of Point Peelee. This is a place that my sister, mom and dad went to over and over while I was young. Thanx !
