(Not) Singing the blues

Tricia from Earthly Hues had a contest on her blog and I won!!! She hand-delivered a gorgeous skein of her Duck Weed sport-weight to me last week and she also gave me 4 oz of her indigo dyed merino-silk roving!!! Tricia knew I was a spinner because we've taken spinning classes together at The Needling Yarn. (That's how we met.) Both the yarn and roving are amazingly soft and I love the colors her natural dyes produce. If you haven't checked out her products yet, please do! (The Needling Yarn carries her yarns if you'd rather see & squoosh them in person.) Thanks again, Tricia!!!

See the silk shining in that soft merino cloud?
And I LOVE the richness of that green!

We spent the last week of July (plus a few days) at our cottage in Michigan and while driving around we stopped at a garage sale. I spotted this little blue chair - which had a broken seat - for $2. I walked away without it then immediately regretted not buying it, so I made my son turn his truck around and went back for it.

I think it will be perfect to use at my spinning wheel.

It's much smaller than it looks; less than 35 inches tall. The seat is 17 1/8 inches high and 15 1/2 inches square and the top portion of the seat back is a mere 10 1/2 inches wide. When I sit in it you can't see the chair, and I'm 120 pounds fully clothed and soaking wet. It isn't a child's chair, but it's small.

The crack on the right is my mediocre repair job, the one on the left had been glued before. I think someone used it as a stepladder and put their foot through the seat. Also note the awesome spray-paint job.

Now what do you think... Should I sand it down and paint it a soft shade of robin's egg blue or leave it as-is for a more antiquey look? I keep going back & forth on this and can't decide. Hmmm...
