Summer Solstice

Last weekend we participated in the Summer Sailstice, an event for sailors around the world to celebrate the arrival of the summer solstice, the longest sailing day of the year. Really, it's just an excuse to party. Most of the sailors in our harbor went out sailing, then got together at dinner time to have a cook-out and booze it up. Dave threw meat and veggie burgers on the grill and stabbed them periodically while I made rum drinks, salad, and corn. Then we all sat around in our Sailstice t-shirts eating, drinking, and sharing tales of the high seas. (I really don't remember what we talked about, but that sounded good so I went with it.) Wine and Rum were free-flowing, so a good time was had by all.

And speaking of booze, have you seen these new limited edition Jell-Os?

I found them in Giant Eagle and made the Margarita Ice recipe on the back of the package. It was tasty and refreshing so today Nels and I went back to the store and got about a dozen more boxes. I don't want to be without when the Limited Edition Margarita flavor is gone! I got a couple Strawberry Daiquiri and a few Pina Colada, but the Margarita - mmm! I hope you can find them where you live!

I was feeling adventurous today so I went in search of a new yarn shop, the Knitter's Mercantile. Their store opened in April but I didn't have a chance to check it out until now. WOW! Is that place awesome!!! I will definitely go back when I have more time and no teenager with me. I could easily spend an hour in there just squeezing yarn. And oh, the patterns! Ok, gotta wipe the drool off my keyboard...

I'm in agreement on all counts, especially the yarn shop. We have to get there.

That sounds like a very nice evening, the perfect way to celebrate Summer. Have you perfected the 'Jell-O Shot' yet? I like the 'Ted Bear' idea you have in the works. Keep us updated on your projects - it's fun to see them in the varying stages.
