Tonight I smell like car fumes (& gasoline)

I've had this little car for about 5 years.

It's a 1974 MG Midget and I haven't driven it in almost 2 years. The starter broke and my son kept promising to fix it. Then two weeks ago, when Dave and I were at the boat, my son had his friends over and they hot-wired it so they could drive it to their shop to fix it for me. It took them a while to get it apart, then they had to order the parts and install them. They changed the oil and drove it around their neighborhood to make sure it was running ok. Tonight at 6:00 I was able to go pick it up. My son drove me over to his friends' garage and they followed me to the nearest gas station so I could fill it up. Then they took off and I headed home. I got about a half-mile down the road and it started to sputter so I pulled off the road and let it run a bit. It was coughing and sputtering so I turned it off and called my son. He and his friends turned around and came to rescue me. My knights in shining armor! (Well, ok, it was a black Porsche. But it was shiny.) The MG started right up so I asked if they'd follow me the 5 miles home in case it happened again and they agreed. This time I went about a quarter of a mile before it sputtered and died.

They think that putting the new gas in stirred up gunk from the bottom of the gas tank and clogged the fuel intake because the engine wasn't getting enough fuel. So my little MG limped back to the shop and there she sits for tonight. But at least I got to drive it!!!

Now my clothes & hair smell like car fumes & gasoline, so I'm heading up to take a shower. Have a good evening!
