60 is a magic number

This is my view when I wake up in the morning. Yup, took this one while I was still snuggled in the warmth of my bed. It's funny that neither Dave or I knew the bird's nest was there till the leaves fell from the sweetgum tree. But now I look for it every morning and I hope it stays there all winter.

Did you notice the sunrise? It's a typical one - nothing spectacular, but I am seeing it more these days. And not because I have kids to get on the bus, either. *Ha-ha!* Nope, I'm sleeping better and waking up earlier.

I used to think I was a light sleeper. The cats walking up the carpeted stairs in the middle of the night would wake me. The crackling of the Ionic Breeze when the filter got dirty would wake me. A spider crawling up the bedroom wall would wake me. Ok, I made that last one up. But I chalked it up to being a light sleeper.

Then Dave hurt his back playing hockey and we decided to get a new bed. He mentioned it to a few friends and they highly recommended the Select Comfort. You know, the one with those 'Sleep Number' commercials? So we went to Easton and checked them out. We spent about 45 minutes laying on the beds, adjusting them up and down, and finally decided on the 5000. It was delivered the following week. The first night I set my side to 35 and woke in the middle of the night because it was way too soft, so I cranked it up to 60 and I've been sleeping soundly ever since. I'm even dreaming again, too, which is weird because I haven't dreamed in a really long time, probably since we switched from our water bed 13 years ago. Here all this time I thought it was me, but it was really our bed.

Dave's sleeping better, too. His back doesn't hurt in the mornings and he's snoring less - YAY!!! He's still trying to find his number and adjusts his side every few days. But he travels a lot so he's not always sleeping here and I think that makes it harder for him to decide what's comfortable. But me, I'm keeping mine at 60 and will continue to sleep like a baby.
